The wound dressing is a central part of pressure sore care. The choice of transparent IV dressing must be based on the condition of the wound bed, the condition of the skin around the wound and the goal of the pressure sore patient. Generally speaking, when the wound bed is clean and in the period of granulation tissue growth, it is best to keep the wound bed moist, which can promote wound healing or closure. There are many moisturizing dressings to choose from. However, the type and choice of dressing may change over time as pressure sores are decocted or worsened.

Conventional advice

1. Pressure sores are evaluated each time the dressing is changed to ensure that the current dressing is appropriate.

2. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations, especially the frequency of dressing changes.

3. The nursing plan shall indicate the general paste time of the dressing and shall include the alternative plan for changing the dressing if necessary, such as in the dressing

Contamination and loosening (for family members, patients, and medical staff).

4. Choose the dressing to keep the wound bed moist.

5. Select the dressing to keep contact with the bottom of the wound bed or isolate the skin to keep the wound dry and prevent immersion.

Transparent IV dressing

1. Consider using transparent film dressing to protect some body parts that are in danger of friction injury or adhesive injury.

2. When the patient has no hypoimmunity, the transparent membrane dressing should be used for self-dissolving debridement.

3. When alginate dressing or other filling materials are used to fill the wound and need to be kept in the wound for a while (such as 3-5 days), the transparent membrane dressing can be considered as a two-layer dressing.

4. The transparent membrane dressing should be carefully removed in the vulnerable part of the skin to reduce skin damage.

5. For moderate or severe exudative ulcers, do not use transparent membrane dressing as a tissue contact layer.

6. Do not use transparent membrane dressing as a dressing, and cover it with debridement enzyme, gel or oil ointment.
