When soft tissue, injured, wrapping the injured ankle with a flexible cohesive bandage, is the most common method for athletes. The first is to wrap the bottom layer with a flexible cohesive bandage, much like a cloth, covering the injured area, and then wrap it in a specific position to support the ankle. Active people will find the bandage lighter and more comfortable than cloth bandages.

Method: pressure bandaging

1. Put one end of the flexible cohesive bandage on the ankle. This is where the dressing begins. Wrap the bandage around the foot from the outside, not from the inside, so that the bandage is wound in the right position and direction.

To get more support, you can put a mat on both sides of your ankle before bandaging.

Horseshoe-shaped foam can also provide more support for a pressure bandage.

2. Bind the top of the foot. Press one end of the bandage on the ankle with one hand, and wrap the bandage around the foot with the other hand from the outside. Wrap the bandages three times from the front to the heel, each half overlapping.

The bandage should be firm, but not too tight or it will block the flow of blood from feet to toes.

Make sure that the dressing is even and free of swelling or bulging. Bandage again if necessary.

3. 8 binding. After three wraps around the foot, lift the bandage around the instep and back to the ankle. Then around the heel, around the instep, under the foot and back to the ankle.

4. Repeat the "8" binding. Three twists of figure 8. Every time you wind it, overlap the general bandage to keep it in place. The last time around should be a few centimeters above the ankle to maintain stability.

If you want to bandage a child's ankle, you may not need to wrap it three times to fix it. But make at least two turns and make sure the ankle is fixed.

Check again to make sure the binding is firm and not too tight. If there is swelling or swelling, bandage again, otherwise it will cause discomfort to the patient.

5. Fix the bandage. Fasten the end of the bandage with a metal button. If the bandage ends with adhesive, secure with adhesive.

If you feel numbness or tingling in your ankle, untie the bandage. The bandage is too tight.

Loosen the bandage twice a day for half an hour to smooth the blood circulation, and then bandage again.
